As Liverpool prepares for this weekend’s clash against Bournemouth, it’s time for the latest headlines with our media digest. Barcelona’s Ronald Araújo features, as does Kylian Mbappé.
Manchester United are exploring a deal to sign Barcelona center-back Ronald Araújo, according to Sky Sports Deutschland’s Florian Plettenberg. The Red Devils are said to have made an inquiry regarding his availability for transfer, and it is believed that only offers in excess of $87m (£68m/€80m) will be considered.
Bayern Munich is also reported to be keen on him, but Araújo has no intentions of leaving this month, which means teams will be forced to resurface in the summer. By then, though, there could be a race on to secure the signature of the Argentine.
Liverpool learn Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé stance
Real Madrid is keeping its cards close to their chest amid its pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappé. Club president Florentino Pérez didn’t reveal much when speaking after the club won the Spanish Super Cup on Sunday, providing little indication to Liverpool, who are believed to be admirers of the France international.
Speaking to reporters after the game, as quoted by Liverpool ECHO, he said: “Kylian Mbappé to Real Madrid? This is not the day to comment on that topic. Real Madrid are enjoying these players.”
Previous reports have suggested that Los Blancos had given the Frenchman a deadline before they would end their interest permanently, though it would be unsurprising if that stance changed if he decided he wanted to make the switch to the Santiago Bernabéu.
