Liverpool can take another big step toward a first piece of silverware this season tomorrow. The Reds will be aiming to book their place at Wembley as they face Fulham in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final.
Jürgen Klopp’s side holds a 2-1 aggregate lead following the win at Anfield two weeks ago, and will need just a draw to reach the final. It could prove to be just the first part of a special season, with Liverpool still in the hunt for four trophies.
It will be a tough ask to take home all of those though, especially with injuries taking their toll on the squad at the moment. Klopp does have the chance to bolster his team with the January transfer window open for another week or so, although it looks unlikely at this stage that he will dip into the market.
Things can change quickly though, and the latest reports suggest Liverpool may have already made one offer for a new defender, while another could be on the way for a midfielder. Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today.
Antonio Rüdiger (Real Madrid)
Antonio Rüdiger is willing to listen to an offer from Liverpool, according to El Nacional. The Spanish outlet claims the Reds have submitted a proposal in order to sign him, with Jürgen Klopp looking to reinforce his defense.
Rüdiger though may be using Liverpool’s offer in order to get a pay rise out of Real Madrid. With David Alaba and Éder Militão out injured, the former Chelsea star has stepped up and impressed, and is looking to use offers from elsewhere, including Saudi Arabia, to increase his earnings.
Teun Koopmeiners (Atalanta)
Liverpool is preparing a move for Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners, according to Tutto Atalanta. The Netherlands international has been regularly linked with a move to Anfield in recent years, although the report from Italy suggests the Reds could be about to make a decisive move.
With seven goals and four assists from 26 games this season, Koopmeiners has impressed once again in Serie A. His form has drawn attention from a number of clubs, including Liverpool, who is said to be ‘ready to make a huge offer’ of around $49m (£39m/€45m).
