A top job offer will be made to Klopp months after he leaves Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp has been tipped to succeed Julian Nagelsmann as Germany manager after Euro 2024, a matter of months after the end of his Liverpool tenure.

Klopp announced on Friday that this season would be his last in the Liverpool dugout, the German “running out of energy” after a nine-year spell that has taken in Premier League and Champions League triumphs.

The 56-year-old insisted that he needed time away from the game – “no club, no country for the next year,” he said – but his native Germany could make a move for him sooner than that with Nagelsmann out of contract next summer, according to a report.

The German national football team are set to test Jurgen Klopp’s resolve after the outgoing Liverpool boss claimed that he would take a year’s break from the sport once he departs Anfield at the end of the season,” claims The Daily Express’ Jack McEachen.

Nagelsmann hasn’t exactly set the heather alight since being appointed to the role in September, capping unheralded Bundesliga players like Kevin Behrens and Robert Andrich and losing to Turkey and Austria in his last two games.

A disappointing Euros – perhaps anything less than an outright win – and the former RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich manager could once again be out of a job.

DFB vice-president Ronny Zimmermann has previously floated the idea of moving for Klopp.

“I don’t think we need to talk about the fact that Jurgen Klopp is a brilliant coach,” he said. “We also don’t have to talk about the fact that he could also be a candidate for national coach.

“But the time for making wishes like these was Christmas. After the European Championships we’ll talk about the national coach and not about what we might wish for. But I could well live with Jurgen Klopp, like many others I think.”
