Chelsea could make one massive signing in the next transfer window.
Victor Osimhen has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea and journalist Sacha Tavolieri has now claimed on X that the striker has chosen to join the Blues.
While nothing is official yet, Napoli owner and president Aurelio De Laurentiis recently confirmed that Osimhen will join Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain or a Premier League club in the summer. The Italian’s quotes were picked up by ESPN and other outlets earlier this week.
The 25-year-old signed a new contract last month, but it looks to have only delayed the inevitable.
Osimhen is currently at the Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria, helping them to beat Cameroon in the round of 16 yesterday.
It looks like Stamford Bridge may very well be Osimhen’s next destination. If it is, then Chelsea will obviously be delighted.
The Nigeria international is undoubtedly one of the best centre-forwards in the world right now.
Last season, Osimhen scored 31 goals in all competitions for Napoli. The campaign prior to that, he netted 18 times.
In an interview with ESPN last year, AS Monaco star Folarin Balogun hailed Osimhen as a “world-class striker”, and the above shows why.
Hopefully Chelsea can now get this over the line. Looking at the Napoli man’s quality, he could be the difference between another bad season and a good one.
This campaign has not been great for Mauricio Pochettino‘s side, though it could still finish with them winning silverware and qualifying for the Europa League.
The Blues are into the Carabao Cup final, where they will take on Liverpool, and are only four points behind sixth.
However, the Champions League places are where Chelsea need to be and Osimhen has the quality to take them back there.
