Conor Gallagher has been linked with making the move from Chelsea to Tottenham all winter and the speculation has not gone away just yet.
The Chelsea captain is wanted by Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham. The Spurs boss sees him as ideal for his system in midfield and is keen to bring him in if the opportunity arises.
So far, Gallagher’s future has not been resolved and Chelsea have yet to get him to sign a new deal. Also, should he be sold, then Chelsea can count it as pure profit against their books for FFP purposes.
However, according to Football.London, there is now a growing feeling among both clubs that, for this window anyway, Gallagher won’t be going anywhere.
According to the report from FL’s Alasdair Gold, Chelsea and Tottenham seem to be stuck when it comes to a potential deal for Gallagher.
At the moment, it’s suggested Chelsea will sell Gallagher if they get a huge offer that meets their demands.
However, it’s claimed that unless something drastic happens in the coming days, then for now, the England midfielder will be staying as a Chelsea player.
If he does, then he’d be entering into the final 12 months of his contract with the Blues and his value will come down for them.
Chelsea, then, face an excruciating decision on Gallagher’s future.
Tottenham will keep pecking away
This one hasn’t gone away all window and it looks like it might go right to the wire.
It does seem unlikely that a deal gets done but Tottenham will be sticking this one out just in case a deal can get over the line.
If somehow Chelsea change their stance in the coming days and decide to sell, then it could spark a frantic end to the window for all clubs in England.
Gallagher is in no rush to leave Chelsea as we know but if he feels he’s being forced, then he might well embrace joining Postecoglou’s Spurs revolution.
