Chelsea ran the rule over former Flying Eagles forward Akor Adams when he was in action for Montpellier in their Ligue 1 fixture against Lille at the Stade de la Mosson on Sunday.
According to a report from HITC, the Blues’ scouts attended the game to watch the Nigerian striker and Lille duo of Jonathan David and Leny Yoro.
However, the report added that the main reason for their attendance was to watch Yoro who is one the most highly rated young centre-backs in Europe at the moment.
Regardless, it must be said that Adams’ performance in the Ligue 1 this campaign has attracted the interest of the Stamford Bridge outfit as he is within the age profile of players they have signed in recent times.
The 24-year-old had a rapid start to life in the French top flight, scoring seven goals in his first 10 appearances but hasn’t found the back of the net since bagging a brace against Toulouse in October.
He ended his goal drought last week when he bagged a brace in Montpellier’s 4-0 win over French fourth-tier side SC Feignies in the round of 32 of the French Cup.
Adams has also been linked with West Ham who would love to sign him this month to bolster their attack but their attempt appears to have been nipped in the bud.
