“Perfect” Klopp replacement touted
Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov believes former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso is the natural successor to Jurgen Klopp.
The Anfield chief will stand down from his role in the summer and Alonso, who is currently top of the Bundesliga and thriving as the head coach of Bayer Leverkusen, has been heavily touted as the German’s successor.
Berbatov believes the appointment is a no-brainer, telling Betfair: “The only name that popped straight in my mind when it was announced Klopp was leaving was Xabi Alonso.”
