Earlier today, Barcelona president Joan Laporta gave a detailed interview to RAC1, during which he made some barbs at Real Madrid.
With Barcelona being mired in the Negreira scandal, Laporta accused Real Madrid of making the judge extend the investigation into the matter despite no proof found to support claims of any wrongdoing.
Madrid is not behaving well, they are doing an exercise in cynicism that is not acceptable. Judge Joaquin Aguirre has extended the investigation process at the request of Real Madrid, as contemplated in the procedure,” said Laporta.
Despite being goaded by Laporta, Real Madrid have no intentions of issuing a formal response to the Barcelona president over his accusations and remarks, reports journalist Melchor Ruiz of COPE.
At the moment, Real Madrid are fully focused on sporting matters with the season at a crucial juncture.
Los Blancos are currently seated atop the La Liga table following their 2-0 win over Getafe and have two top-of-the-table clashes coming up against Atletico Madrid and Girona in the next few days.
As such, the Spanish capital club does not want any distractions and will not be dragged into an exchange with Laporta by acknowledging or responding to his comments.
During his interview, the Barcelona president also accused Real Madrid TV of putting pressure on referees through the videos posted by the club’s media channel, which was backed by their manager Xavi Hernandez as well.
With Carlo Ancelotti set to appear in front of the media tomorrow for his press conference ahead of the derby, it will be interesting to see what he has to say on the matter.
