Liverpool have been handed a welcome boost after Darwin Nunez took part in team training on Friday.
The Uruguayan had suffered a foot injury in Wednesday’s 4-1 victory over Chelsea, with Jurgen Klopp earlier confirming the striker was a doubt for Sunday’s trip to Arsenal as a result.
However, the 24-year-old was in good spirits as he trained with his team-mates at the AXA Training Centre on Friday, with such a sight seemingly confirming that he will be fit to face the Gunners.
Klopp had already confirmed that the Spaniard had joined in team training last week, but the 33-year-old looked sharp in footage released on the club’s social media channels as he closes in on his own return. Having not started a game for 12 months, it remains to be seen if Thiago will be included in the travelling squad to face Arsenal or if Liverpool intend to remain a little bit more patient with him.
Meanwhile, Tsimikas was seen training with his team-mates for the first time since suffering a broken collarbone against Arsenal last month. While he had been tipped to return to training this month, his premature involvement was still a slight surprise.
Elsewhere, Alexis Mac Allister also trained as normal despite suffering a heavy knock to his knee in the closing stages of Liverpool’s win over Chelsea. If the quartet are all available to face Arsenal, it would leave Mohamed Salah, Joel Matip, Stefan Bajcetic, and Ben Doak as the only players on the Reds’ injury list, with Wataru Endo also currently absent as he continues to compete in the Asian Cup.
