Liverpool have fallen behind to a Bukayo Saka goal against Arsenal in the Premier League.

Dominik Szoboszlai misses out for the Reds through injury as Trent Alexander-Arnold returns for Conor Bradley.

Thiago Alcantara makes his first match-day squad of the campaign after returning to training last week, having not featured since last April. It’s 12 months to the day since the Spain midfielder started his last match for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Szoboszlai is replaced in midfield by Ryan Gravenberch as the Netherlands U21 international starts alongside Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones.

Darwin Nunez is only a part of the substitutes’ bench after hurting his foot in Wednesday’s 4-1 win over Chelsea at Anfield. The Uruguay international is replaced by Cody Gakpo as the Reds look to go eight points clear of their hosts at the top of the Premier League.

Gomez booked

That’s Gomez in the book for a foul on Havertz. At least he was looking to make some sort of challenge. Liverpool haven’t really been interested in those this half.

Suffocating

Liverpool can’t get out of their third of the pitch here. The passing lanes are being cut off and there is no outball at all. It’s not sticking when it goes forward. Mac Allister is being suffocated in midfield by Arsenal’s weight of numbers.

Arsenal again

Liverpool look incredibly laboured at the moment and it takes a good block from Van Dijk to prevent another likely shot on goal from Arsenal midfielder Odegaard.

The Reds have been really poor so far.
