Liverpool are battling an increasing injury crisis as they look to get their Premier League title bid back on track
The Reds suffered a setback last Sunday with a defeat to rivals Arsenal, allowing the Gunners and Manchester City to close the gap at the top of the table. They have a prime chance to retake control when they face struggling Burnley on Saturday.
But boss Jurgen Klopp will be without Thiago Alcantara after the midfielder suffered yet another injury. That blow comes as two Reds stars were nominated for the Premier League’s Player of the Month award for January.
And star Harvey Elliott opened up on the texts he has received from Mohamed Salah during the Egyptian’s spell on the sidelines. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest Liverpool news.
Thiago Alcantara has suffered a fresh injury setback having only just returned from a hip problem. The midfielder played his first game of the season as a late substitute in last week’s defeat to Arsenal.
But he has now suffered another muscle injury after feeling a twinge during the match. At this point it is unknown how long the Spanish international is going to be sidelined for.
Liverpool will continue to assess the the 32-year-old and are hoping it is only a minor issue. But it marks yet another injury problem to plague the midfielder, who has suffered issues with his knee, calf and thighs since arriving at Anfield.
