Hanna Cavinder announced on X that she is returning to the Miami basketball program after taking off the 2023-24 season. Cavinder provides Miami with an experienced and productive guard to a roster that has lost multiple players to the transfer portal. Cavinder was a key reserve on the 2023 Miami run to the Elite Eight.
In her one season with Miami, Cavidner averaged 3.8 points per game, 1.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists, while shooting 36.8 percent from the floor, 30.7 percent on three-point attempts and 82.6 percent from the free throw line. Cavinder spent three seasons at Fresno State before transferring with her sister Haley to Miami.
Hanna Cavinder averaged 15.7 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 3.8 APG, and 1.8 steals while shooting 43.1 percent from the floor, 29.4 percent on three-point attempts and 78.0 percent from the free throw line. Haley had previously announced in October she was transferring to TCU for the 2024-25 season.

The Hurricanes will need to add several transfers to fill out the roster. If Haley remains at TCU, Hanna Cavinder projects to have a much bigger role for Miami than she did in 2022-23/
The Cavinders became known during Covid for building up a TikTok following of 4.5 million. Cavinder’s messages on TikTok and X varied slightly. Hanna Cavinder made it clear on the shared TikTok account with Haley that she is returning to the Hurricanes stating “Let’s run it back Miami”
Hanna was the 71st point guard in the 2019 class per ESPN. Haley was the 28th-ranked 2019 point guard. Hanna earned All-Mountain West in 2020 and 2021, was named to the 2020 Mountain West All-Freshman Team and was a three-time Mountain West Player of the Week.
