The curtain has closed on another month of exciting football action and the OPPOxPIRATES Goal of the Month is back, offering Orlando Pirates fans a chance to win a brand new OPPO A18 smartphone by simply choosing which of the goals scored by the Buccaneers in March was the standout.

The Soweto Giants thrilled and entertained in the past month, scoring a host of stunning goals in both the DStv Premiership and the Nedbank Cup, and nine of them have made the shortlist for the OPPOxPIRATES Goal of the Month.

Attacking pair Monnapule Saleng and Tshegofatso Mabasa frequently featured on the scoresheet throughout the month, and their goal-scoring exploits have been rewarded with three nominations apiece.

Two of Saleng’s shortlisted goals were scored in the 3-2 Soweto Derby win against Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium, while he also struck in the 4-0 victory over Hungry Lions. Mabasa also produced a double of his own, striking twice against Northern Cape-based outfit, and was again on the scoresheet in Polokwane when the Buccaneers visited for a league game away to Sekhukhune United.

Also on the list is striker Evidence Makgopa, whose second-half header against Polokwane City ensured a hard-fought victory on the road. His goal is nominated alongside Relebohile Mofokeng’s brilliantly taken opening goal in the league stalemate against Cape Town Spurs, while Thabiso Lebitso’s stunning long-range strike against Chiefs also makes the cut.
