Less than a week after describing it as a “high priority,” Detroit Lions general manager Brad Holmes got his Jared Goff deal done.
According to NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero, Goff and the Lions have reached an agreement on a four-year, $212 million contract deal with $170 million guaranteed. Pelissero explained that the new contract keeps him in Detroit until 2027, with an option for 2028.
At $53 million per year, Goff’s new contract propels him to second place on the salary lists, trailing only Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow for the highest yearly average salary. It also brings Detroit’s offseason expenditure on extensions beyond $110 million, completing a trinity of major deals that will keep three core personnel — Goff, receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, and offensive tackle Penei Sewell — with the Holmes-crafted squad for years to come.

Goff’s extension could be seen coming for quite some time. He finished in the top four in both passing yards (4,575) and passing touchdowns (30) in 2024, propelling a Lions offense that finished third in yards per game and powered Detroit to its first division title in 30 years, two playoff wins and an appearance in the NFC Championship Game.
