Despite their surprising FA Cup Final victory over local rivals Manchester City on Saturday afternoon, some Manchester United players’ futures remain uncertain.

It’s reasonable to say that the incumbent Premier League champions were heavy favourites to complete a double-double under the Wembley arch, but an incredible performance from the Red Devils ensured they won the trophy for the first time since 2016. Goals from teenage duo Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho ensured Erik ten Hag secured the second major honour of his tenure at Old Trafford, with Jeremy Doku’s second-half strike doing little to prevent it.

The former Ajax manager’s position remains uncertain for next season, and one of his signings is doubtful whether he will be given the opportunity to stay with the 13-time Premier League champions. Sofyan Amrabat joined the Red Devils on a season-long loan from Serie A club Fiorentina last summer, and he has disclosed that he is still in talks about making the move permanent.

Amrabat was asked about his future in an interview with Ziggo Sport, and he responded: “Do I already know what I’m going to do next year? No. We’re going to talk. Staying is definitely a possibility. Look, I believe this has been a particularly challenging season. Manchester United, as well as me, require significant improvement.

The 3AM Verdict: Amrabat has shown signs of significant progress in recent weeks, although it should be noted that the majority of his loan stay at Manchester United has been disappointing. The Old Trafford hierarchy will have some difficult decisions this summer, but not converting his loan deal into a permanent move appears to be a simpler option.
