Dallas, Texas (Dakota News Now) – The Minnesota Timberwolves faced elimination in the Western Conference Quarterfinals after losing three straight games against the Denver Nuggets, but they responded with two straight victories to win the series.
To remain undefeated in elimination games and keep their NBA Finals dream alive, the Wolves must make NBA history.
Anthony Edwards scored 26 points, including an unbelievable poster dunk, to lead Minnesota in the second half of game three of the Western Conference Finals at Dallas, where they led 104-102 with five minutes left in the fourth.
However, for the third consecutive game, the Mavericks dominated down the stretch, outscoring the Timberwolves 14-3 in the final 4:35 to win 116-107 and take a 3-0 series lead.
None of those teams have ever rallied to win the series. Even forcing a seventh game after falling behind 3-0 is extremely rare, with only four of those 154 teams ever winning three straight to force a seventh game (the most recent being last year’s Celtics, who overcame a 3-0 series deficit in the Eastern Conference Finals only to lose 103-84 on home court to the Miami Heat).
