Currently holding the position of general manager for the Baltimore Orioles, Dan Duquette may be considering a promotion from another team. Keep checking back for updates.
The Washington Nationals are “pursuing” Duquette to be their team president, according to Mike Berardino of the Pioneer Press.
But according to MASN’s Roch Kubatko, Duquette stated, “I don’t know anything about this, nor has anyone contacted me [about a job with the Nationals].”
A Nationals official stated that the team is “not in discussions with [Duquette], nor are we in the market for a team president,” as reported by Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post.
Having joined the Orioles in November 2011, Duquette has played a key role in guiding the team to its first division title in 17 years in 2014 and its first postseason berth in 15 years in 2012.

The Blue Jays learned last year that in any situation involving Duquette, the Orioles have the upper hand. Before the 2013 season, Duquette signed a contract extension with Baltimore that lasted until 2018.
Although Mike Rizzo is the Nationals’ general manager and president of baseball operations, the franchise does not currently have a president.
Ownership gives him the financial resources to assemble the roster anyway he deems fit. During his most recent tenure with the Orioles, Duquette has proven to be one of baseball’s top executives.
It’s hardly surprising that he’s drawing so much attention, but even if the Nationals show a genuine desire, the Orioles don’t appear willing to let him depart.
