We believe that the Philadelphia Eagles have strengthened their defensive line by bringing in young players, especially Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis, whose immense skills are now being utilised by new defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.
But do the Eagles need more?
This is just another of those reports claiming that defensive player Calais Campbell, a six-time Pro Bowler, and the Eagles are “linked”; in reality, the rumor’s originator is the only one doing the “linking.”
Don’t get us wrong, even at 37 years old, Campbell is a class act who undoubtedly still has something to offer; as a versatile player who can play both end and tackle for the Atlanta Falcons last season, he recorded 6.5 sacks. However, we would emphasise that a man with his level of leadership and sixteen years of NFL experience would be a perfect fit in this Philadelphia locker room.
However, there’s a good reason why Campbell stays off the field long after the highly competitive NFL free agency period has ended.
Does he have any upcoming events? Does it occur with the start of NFL training camps and a closer inspection of rosters by teams? Is a player like this not welcomed in elsewhere until after Week 1 for cap reasons?
These are all good suggestions, both for Philadelphia and other teams. However, aside from those who write about “links” nonstop, we don’t know anything about “links.”
