Emiliano Martinez, the goalkeeper for Argentina, says he is prepared to “fight” with his team, Aston Villa, in order to play in the Olympics this year. With the 2018 Premier League season starting on August 17, clubs are not required to release players for the Olympic football event, which is being hosted in France from July 24 to August 9. Martinez, 31, is aiming to be one of the three players who are older than 23 who are picked for the Argentina team. Martinez said to TycSports on Wednesday, “I always put Argentina first, and if I have to fight with my club then I will do so.”
“For me, the Olympic Games come first, followed by the Copa America. To take home the gold medal is my dream.
The 2022 World Cup winner continued, “I want to play in the Olympic Games, but it doesn’t depend on just me.” As he continues his conversations with Argentina’s Olympic coach Javier Mascherano, Lionel Messi of Inter Miami could possibly be added to the team.
The 2024 Summer Olympics, sometimes called Paris 2024 or the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad, will be an international multi-sport competition. The dates are set for July 26 to August 11.
