Quinn Ewers of the Texas Longhorns, a returning starter, is among the best quarterbacks in college football. As an analyst going into the 2024 regular season, former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy actually has Ewers ranked among his top two. Sports Illustrated said that McElroy observed a significant increase in decisiveness throughout the previous year. “When things were open downfield last year, he anticipated them and took them straight. Only Georgia quarterback Carson Beck was ranked higher than Ewers, McElroy added.

McElroy’s controversial ranking of Beck above Ewers aside, the third-year man under center for Texas looks to enter the upcoming season at the top of his game, as the Longhorns kick off their inaugural Southeastern Conference schedule.
