The Oklahoma Sooners have an embarrassment of riches at the wide receiver position entering the 2024 season. As OU football quits the Big 12 and enters the SEC, they will rely on their strengths in Year 3 of the Brent Venables tenure. Even after losing Drake Stoops, the wide receiver corps remains one of the most skilled and diverse on the squad.
Emmett Jones has excelled since joining the Oklahoma staff from Texas Tech. He recruited successfully, and the unit improved significantly in his first season as wide receivers coach.
Pro Football Focus thinks that the Sooners are very good at wide receiver going into 2024, ranking them as one of the top ten receiving corps in the country. Younger players such as J.J. Hester, Brenan Thompson, Jaquazie Pettaway, Zion Kearney, Zion Ragins, Ivan Carreon, and K.J. Daniels provide valuable depth and are all good recruits.
At tight end, Roberts may not even start because Bauer Sharp took those snaps in the spring game. Davon Mitchell, a four-star true freshman, joins Kaden Helms and Josh Fanuiel in the tight ends room. Joe Jon Finley, who is replacing Austin Stogner, will be allowed to mix and match whatever he wants from that position.
