Excellent news for Michigan football was announced on Monday: four-star edge rusher Jaylen Williams committed to play for the Wolverines. Williams gave Michigan a much-needed lift after the club went almost a month without a confirmed player. We have been waiting all offseason for the Wolverines to make a wave of commits, and it’s likely that this will be the one. Why am I stating that? Okay, a few things.
First, Michigan’s busiest visitation weekends are quickly approaching. Ann Arbor is going to attract an increasing number of elite prospects, which is good news for the Wolverines. The added effort will only be beneficial. Next, Michigan is vying for a number of recruits who should make their pledges known soon. For Michigan football, that might be fantastic. Finally, and maybe most importantly, are the tweets that the coaching staff is posting. Sherrone Moore first posted this tweet, which has two fists and two pairs of eyes. More eyes and hands meant that many commits were anticipated in the past.
Next is this tweet from defensive coordinator Wink Martindale. This tweet was posted after the commitment of Jaylen Williams, implying that at least one other commit could be announcing soon.
