AC Milan have’made contact’ with Aston Villa about potentially signing Matty Cash, but their £30 million ($38.3 million) valuation is deemed ‘too expensive’
The Athletic claim the Serie A side has had a ‘long-standing’ interest in the right-back, but the Premier League club’s price tag is likely to be a’stumbling barrier’. Villa would prefer to retain the 26-year-old and are unlikely to entertain cheaper offers for him this summer.
Villa, on the other hand, is facing financial difficulties. Unai Emery’s team is expected to make a ‘notable’ player sale by the end of June in order to comply with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations. Cash, like striker Jhon, may be a big-money exit.
Duran, midfielder Douglas Luiz, and defender Diego Carlos. If they do not sell this month, they may receive a points deduction.
Since joining Villa from Nottingham Forest for £16 million ($20.5 million) in September 2020, Cash has made 142 appearances for the club, scoring nine goals and assisting ten times. In that period, they have progressed from Premier League relegation candidates to Champions League participants. His contract with the Villans runs until 2027.
Villa, who are apparently aiming to reinforce at full-back for next season, will begin pre-season next month, with friendlies against Walsall, Spartak Trnava, Columbus Crew, and RB Leipzig scheduled in the second half of July.
