Fabrizio Romano announced that Atalanta had made contact with Nicolo Zaniolo’s team shortly after it became known that the midfielder would be leaving Galatasaray. The Super League winners have set an acceptable asking price of €15 million for the former Italy international, so he will be available this summer at a fair price.
The future of Charles De Ketelaere is still a topic of discussion between Atalanta and Milan. Gian Piero Gasperini’s team needs a small reduction from the Rossoneri in order to buy the Belgian forward outright, even though they are determined to activate a buyout option in his loan agreement. Atalanta continues to search the market for possible attacking reinforcements while negotiating a deal with Milan.Despite Zaniolo’s recent discovery, the Europa League champions have made the decision to move forward with bringing the 24-year-old back to Serie A. Atalanta and Galatasaray are currently negotiating, with La Dea hoping to outbid Villarreal for Zaniolo’s signature. Though the player’s desire to return to his native country might win out, the Spaniards had been in the lead to recruit the former Roma winger.
Zaniolo swapped Roma for Galatasaray in February 2023. However, after only six months in Istanbul, he joined Aston Villa on a season-long loan last summer. The move didn’t pan out well, with the Premier League powerhouse refusing to offer him a permanent contract in Birmingham.
Atalanta would throw Zaniolo a lifeline in Serie A. But there’s a feeling they must sort out De Ketelaere’s future first.
