Allen Park — The Detroit Lions have signed veteran Ben Niemann to add depth to their linebacking and special teams units ahead of next month’s training camp.
A team insider confirmed the transfer to the Detroit News.
After going undrafted out of Iowa, the six-year veteran spent his first four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. He signed as a free agency with the Arizona Cardinals in 2022 and appeared in 17 games, nine of which he started, recording a career-high 70 tackles.
Niemann spent last season on Denver’s practice squad and active roster, appearing in seven games. The 6-foot-2, 235-pounder has started 21 of 86 games in his career. He’s also played a significant role on special teams at each stop, averaging 230 snaps a season.
