F. Mason Shaw – Shaw made a brave return to the lineup this season, signing a contract until the end of the season in February after recuperating from his fourth ACL tear in his career. Shaw, who is still only 25 years old, has suffered this ailment on a biannual basis in 2017, 2019, 2020, and 2023. Shaw appeared in 20 games this season, collecting three points and 34 penalty minutes, despite being limited to 59 games in his official debut season of 2022-23. He also appeared in nine AHL games, scoring seven points and accumulating 13 penalty minutes. Shaw is a depth forward and penalty-kill specialist, but his ability to once more come back from injury should be enough to win him another short-term, affordable
D Declan Chisholm. In late January, the Wild grabbed Chisholm off waivers from the Winnipeg Jets and promptly added him to the team’s rotation of bottom-pair defenders. Chisholm would eventually play 29 games with the Wild, scoring eight points during his official rookie season. He’s taken over the job of the team’s offensive-minded depth defenseman, which was formerly occupied by Calen Addison, who was moved to the San Jose Sharks in November. At 24, Chisholm doesn’t appear to have much breakout potential, but he provides a young and inexpensive change-of-pace option to fill out the Wild’s defense.
