Toprak Razgatlioglu wishes “to leave WorldSBK at the end of this year and move to MotoGP,” according to his manager Kenan Sofuoglu. Where might he go, then?
As previously stated by Sofuoglu, Razgatlioglu will only join a factory team in MotoGP.
For the upcoming season, Repsol Honda still has a seat available beside Luca Marini, subject to Joan Mir’s choice. They also have the financial capacity to cover almost any cost.
Razgatlioglu would be allowed to participate in private testing and HRC has the resources to turn around the RC213V, which is now the least competitive bike on the grid.
Monster Yamaha The 2025 teammate of Fabio Quartararo has not yet been revealed by Monster Yamaha.
Razgatlioglu won the WorldSBK title for Yamaha, but two private testing on an M1 last year ended in disappointment and he left for BMW. Could an unexpected reunion be on the cards?
While Yamaha is currently lagging behind the factories in Europe, it is able to provide significant private testing through concessions, just like Honda, and is making noticeable progress toward bettering its lot in life with agreements with Dallara, Luca Marmorini, and the hiring of prominent Ducati experts.
Ducati Pramac Pramac Ducati would be the perfect example to abandon the “factory team” approach, if there ever was one. Pramac won the team championship, helped Jorge Martin finish second in the previous year’s world championship, and is presently leading the points total.
The key question is whether they’ll move to Yamaha equipment or continue with Ducati. Razgatlioglu may also consider a Pramac Yamaha, but an M1 satellite seat (with Petronas) was already turned down.
Aprilia Racing With the Ducati and KTM official teams both decided for 2025, the most competitive factory team seat still available on paper is at Aprilia, alongside new signing Jorge Martin.
Aprilia has finished second to Ducati in the last two years with four MotoGP victories; the factory has stated that they would like an Italian rider to compete domestically, but that could change if they have a chance to win with Razgatlioglu or switch to an Italian at the Trackhouse team.
VR46/Gresini Ducati A long shot, but if Pramac moves to Yamaha and its pair of factory GP25s are redistributed to VR46 and/or Gresini, might that be enough to tempt Razgatlioglu?
Both teams are proven MotoGP winners in recent seasons, with Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio di Giannantonio, even on year-old bikes. Gresini’s Marc Marquez is currently in 2024 title contention. Neither team has so far announced any riders for 2025.
