The transfer market will officially open tomorrow and AC Milan are set to make several signings, while there will also be departures. As such, the Rossoneri will also have to keep an eye on the squad regulations for the Champions League and Serie A.

Milan will say goodbye to four players at midnight, including Olivier Giroud and Simon Kjaer, and this will leave some room on the squad lists. A mix of foreign and Italian players is essential, above all in the Champions League, and this is something the management must consider.

As highlighted by Radio Rossonera, Milan must submit a squad list of 25 players for both Serie A and Champions League. Four of these must be from the academy and an additional four from another Italian academy, while the remaining free slots have no restraints.

Focusing on the foreign part for a bit, Milan have freed up two slots with the departures of Giroud and Kjaer from the Serie A squad list. However, one of them will immediately be filled by Malick Thiaw as he’s no longer young enough.

In Serie A, players under the age of 22 can be registered without taking any slots, but now the German international will occupy one. This advantage only applies to Serie A and not the Champions League, where two slots have simply been freed up.In the Champions League, players under the age of 21 and who have been developed in the club academy can also be included in squad list B, without taking a slot in the main
