Trenin was picked by the Nashville Predators in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft and attended development camp the following summer. Trenin made his NHL debut in the 2019-20 season. He played in just 21 games, scoring two goals. However, Trenin remained on the Predator’s radar heading into the 2020-21 season. Trenin scored 5 goals in 45 games. The following season, Trenin had a breakout season. In 80 games, Trenin scored 17 goals and registered 46 points. In six Stanley Cup Playoff games, Trenin scored two goals in six games. Trenin put up 24 points again the following season.
