After three seasons in the MLB, former Los Angeles Angels outfielder Monte Harrison has committed to play wide receiver at the University of Arkansas. Harrison will walk on as a wide receiver after a decade away from football. In his senior year at Lee’s Summit West High School, Harrison excelled at football and baseball. As a wide receiver, he caught 60 passes for 1,007 yards and tacked on 25 touchdowns. 247 Sports ranked Harrison as a four-star recruit, 376 nationwide and No. 6 in Missouri.
The two-sport athlete committed to play at the University of Nebraska over offers from Iowa, Michigan State, Missouri, Kansas, Kentucky and Arkansas, but was also slated high in the 2014 MLB draft.
On MLB draft night 2014, the Milwaukee Brewers selected Harrison in the second round of the draft as an outfielder. He spent six years in the minors before making his MLB debut in 2020.
