Eli Gold, the former voice of the Alabama Crimson Tide, is speaking out for the first time since departing the role. Speaking on the latest episode of the “Beat Everyone: An Alabama Football Podcast,” Gold said:

Eli Gold’s voice was synonymous with the Alabama Crimson Tide for three decades and a half. Gold’s contract expired in June 2024, and the school did not offer him a renewal.

Eli Gold started calling Alabama football games in 1989. He served as the program’s play-by-play commentator and hosted the “Hey Coach & The Nick Saban Show” on the school’s Sports Network every Thursday during the college football season.

Eli Gold’s time as the voice of Alabama football coincided with the most successful period in Crimson Tide history. Gold called seven National Championship games, 11 Southeastern Conference Championships, and 35 Bowl Games for the Crimson Tide.

According to ESPN, Chris Stewart is the new voice of Alabama Crimson Tide football. The program is keeping things in-house regarding Stewart’s appointment.

Chris Stewart has worked for the University of Alabama in various roles since 1998. He even filled in for Gold in the 2022 college football season as the long-time broadcaster was battling cancer. Gold returned for the 2023 season in a limited role, calling home games and the Auburn game.
