It’s very rare that Arsenal get a deal done without a few hiccups. Indeed, the Gunners are never far from a bit of drama. Last summer, Manchester City tried a late hijack of the Declan Rice deal, while there was even drama surrounding Riccardo Calafiori’s move this summer. Mikel Merino is reportedly the player Arsenal want to sign next, and, once again, there are conflicting reports around this deal. Art De Roche claimed earlier this week that Merino isn’t that close to joining Arsenal. “Yeah I think it makes sense. It doesn’t seem as though it’s as close at the minute as most reports would say,” De Roche said
When Havertz joined last summer, there was talk that he would play in that left eight role, but he just didn’t perform there. Looking at things stylistically, it helps to have a midfielder playing in midfield. However, Steve Kay speaking on KS1 TV says that this isn’t the case; the journalist says he’s seen some outlets playing down this deal, but he says that his information is that Merino will be signing for Arsenal in the coming days.
