REPORT: Milan plans for the goalkeeper position expected to alter…..see more

AC Milan’s transfer plans look set to change once again as a new goalkeeper might not arrive this summer, according to a report.

In the three friendlies played in America against Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona, it was Lorenzo Torriani who was between the goalposts for Milan and he did very well, something that might just have convinced the management.

The 19-year-old only got as many minutes as he did because Mike Maignan was on vacation and then returned to Milanello while Marco Sportiello – who is the usual deputy to the Frenchman – suffered an accident in the team hotel and required surgery on his hand.

That injury led to widespread reports that a new, more experienced No.2 would be signed with Simone Scuffet quickly established as the favourite. According to SportMediaset (via Radio Rossonera), however, Scuffet’s chances of arriving are falling.

Milan are now inclined towards keeping Torriani as the back-up to Maignan, a player who saved two penalties against Barcelona last night in addition to denying Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski in normal time.

Scudetto has not expressly asked to be sold but is said to be fascinated by the idea of joining Milan, with whom an agreement on the salary is not a problem. The Sardinian club have opened up to a loan transfer with an option to buy, but they want €500k for the loan and this is deemed too high.
