Shocking: Blow to Hamilton’s Ferrari dream and F1… see more

Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari dream was looking even more promising from the moment Adrian Newey and Red Bull announced they are parting ways. But the chances of Newey joining Hamilton at Ferrari have seemingly reduced, as a report suggests he is going to join Aston Martin and Lawerence Stroll.

‘Newey decides’

Adrian Newey is said to have made his mind up: the top designer has decided to accept the offer from Aston Martin. At least, that is what several Italian media, including Autosprint and Corriere dello Sport, are reporting this Tuesday. According to the Italians, the deal will be officially announced in September. See the full report here.

Previously, Newey made it clear he would’ve liked to have worked with Hamilton. But the top designer also mentioned Fernando Alonso in the same sentence. He is signed to Aston Martin for 2025 and beyond. Whether he will remain in the cockpit for long remains uncertain but signing Newey could go a long way in motivating the veteran.

F1 Musical Chairs

With Williams’ signing of Carlos Sainz for the ’25 season, another piece in the great who-drives-where puzzle has fallen into place. A number of F1 drivers are still busy looking for a new place in Formula 1, though some of them are surely aware that the F1 adventure ends after the season. And then? GPblog lists where the current free agents could end up if nobody within Formula 1 wants them.

Piastri puts the pressure on Norris

Oscar Piastri goes into the summer break feeling good. In three of the last four Formula 1 races, he finished ahead of McLaren teammate Lando Norris, which means he is also creeping closer in the World Championship standings. The 23-year-old Australian acknowledges that he is currently in a good position, but at the same time knows how quickly you can lose that momentum as a driver.

Piastri cannot deny that he has a good momentum to catch up. “I think definitely the last few weeks have been very strong from my side. I think the whole season’s been pretty good. A couple of weekends in the middle of the year were a bit tricky. Japan and China mainly were pretty tough, and obviously Barcelona, but I feel like all the other races have been quite strong.” He’s creeping closer to Norris.

Hamilton disapproves change

From the latest safety features to innovative aerodynamic and mechanical parts, Formula 1 cars are constantly changing as teams push to find the next step. One of the latest changes proposed by the FIA includes adding an aircon into the cockpit of an F1 car. Lewis Hamilton is firmly against this proposed idea and dismissed those who suggested it would be a good idea.
