The Post confirmed that Fenway Sports Group and RedBird Capital, companies where LeBron James is part owner are trying to buy the Boston Celtics. Given that he is still playing for the Lakers, LeBron James could not be part of the Celtics ownership but he will be once he is no longer associated with Boston’s biggest rival.
The potential sale of the Celtics is actually a two-step process where 49% of the team won’t be sold until 2028. By that time, LeBron James could well be retired and that will open the door for him to become pert owner of the Celtics. Boston fans are already fuming at the possibility that a Laker will be part of the team. In recent months, the Celtics just hired JPMorgan and BDT & MSD partners to begin the sales process.
