The shocking news that they had struck an agreement to recruit Pedro Neto from Wolves arrived today, and he will travel to do his medical.
Samu Omorodion’s medical in Paris was managed by the Blues the day before, and he is currently getting ready for the Olympic football competition final in Spain.
It is likely that both deals are announced by the club before they get their Premier League campaign underway with the visit of Manchester City on the opening day.
While many would not be surprised if this spelled the end of Chelseas’s adventurous transfer business for this year, that does not seem to be the case.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Blues could still look to sign yet more attackers after both deals are completed.
He said: “Chelsea could be still active on offensive players market even after Neto and Omorodion.
“Osimhen plans to leave but NO intention to reduce salary/accept straight loan. Chelsea still keen ONLY in case deal conditions/Osimhen’s stance change… as Napoli insist for Lukaku.”
The Blues will have a plethora of options in the attacking roles going into next season, with there surely room for a number of those players to leave either permanently or on loan this month.
Although Marc Guiu made a strong impression during the preseason tour of the United States, it appears that he will have difficulty finding playing time given the other choices available to him this season.
Tyrique George was another up-and-coming player who had a significant summer and appeared to have a real chance to play on the left of attack.
But it appears that Neto’s arrival has impeded that, and it could be best for him to play this season on loan.
