AC Milan are ready to present a new offer for their No.1 midfield target, Youssouf Fofana, which is set to include a future resale clause. Indeed, one last push is needed to try to get the deal over the line.
The negotiations with Monaco have been long and tiring, with both clubs refusing to back down and reach a compromise. Milan want to spend around €20m on the midfielder, while the French side continue to ask for over €30m despite the contract expiring next year.
According to today’s edition of Il Giornale, as cited by MilanNews, Milan are preparing a new offer for Fofana which will be worth €20m. There will also be a future resale clause in favour of Monaco at around 10%, which the Rossoneri are hoping can make a difference.
Milan already have an agreement with Fofana over a four-year deal worth €3m per season. So far, the player has refused any other destination as he only wants to join the Rossoneri. This is, of course, a key in the negotiations but the question is how long he can dare to wait.
For now, Ismael Bennacer is the only defensive midfielder in the squad and the season opener is scheduled for next week. Johnny Cardoso has also been mentioned as a concrete Plan B for the French midfielder.
