Cardinale back in Milan; mercato and other things on his mind….see more

Gerry Cardinale is back in Milan and will be helping direct the club through the final weeks of the transfer market and into the new Serie A season.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the RedBird Capital Group Managing Partner is going to be a regular at Milanello and San Siro in the coming weeks and the main purpose of his visit is to be present for the Silvio Berlusconi Trophy match against Monza on Tuesday night.

This event is a tribute to former Milan owner Berlusconi and it would be an oversight for Cardinale not to attend, but the timing is also favourable for other meetings and conversations he is likely to want to have.

Cardinale landed in Milan on Monday morning and will head to Milanello to see Paulo Fonseca and Zlatan Ibrahimovic for more of an update on the day-to-day running of the team as they prepare for Saturday’s season opener against Torino.

He will then head to Casa Milan for a series of meetings centred on the transfer market, as well as the annual strategy and other important topics like the new stadium.

Tomorrow evening, finally, there will be a gala evening at San Siro. Cardinale will be in the company of John Thornton, chairman of RedBird and former co-president of Goldman Sachs in the years in which they interacted closely with Berlusconi.
