Transfer journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has said that he would not be surprised if Milan signed a player like Adrien Rabiot in the late stages of the summer transfer window.
Writing for Il Giornale (via Milan News), Di Marzio discussed the final two weeks of the transfer market for Milan and the name of Juventus midfielder Rabiot came up, as it has done throughout much of the weekend.
The main area of the pitch that Milan are still looking to do business is in the midfield. AS Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana is the primary target and as Di Marzio writes, they would have expected to have the deal done by now.
Monaco are not an easy club to do business with and Geoffrey Moncada is finding it hard to make the breakthrough needed, although an improved bid is on the way.
He then explains that, as shown by Juventus’ failed pursuit of Jean-Clair Todibo, a player saying yes to a proposal on personal terms will only go so far and Milan need alternative targets.
Whilst players like Manu Kone, Danilo and Johnny Cardoso have been linked, Di Marzio says: “I wouldn’t be surprised if in the end a luxury free agent like Adrien Rabiot arrived. He would be the icing on the cake for any team, it’s true that you would have to pay him a very high salary but he is a player who would significantly strengthen the squad.”
