AC Milan’s 2024/25 season is soon getting underway with the clash against Torino fast approaching, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic is doing all he can to make sure the Rossoneri get off to a flying start.
As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ibrahimovic is taking an incredibly hands-on approach to proceedings this summer as he tries to make sure that Paulo Fonseca has the best possible squad available.
During Alvaro Morata’s press conference, Ibrahimovic used the phrase ‘God made the world in seven days, we are in the fourth.’ He was thought to be alluding to the idea that Milan have done little over half the work they need to do in the transfer market this summer.
Fonseca, Morata, Strahinja Pavlovic and Emerson Royal are in the bag, so who are the other three names that Milan need?
Milan certainly need to sign a new midfielder who can offer more protection to the back four than any of the current crop, and the favoured name is Youssouf Fofana.
Milan are ready to launch a new bid for the Frenchman, but there are alternatives such as Manu Kone, Danilo, and Johnny Cardoso.
As well as that, another striker is needed to rotate with Morata and provide more competition than Luka Jovic is expected to. Perhaps the most credible name right now is Tammy Abraham, but this role is seen as a refinement of the squad rather than a necessity like a midfielder.
Finally, some sort of attacking player would give Fonseca another option behind the striker, but it is also not a necessity. Lazar Samardzic is the name linked most closely with this role.
He has great technical skills and has an EU passport despite being Serbian, thanks to being born in Berlin. Udinese are asking for €25 million, but Milan do not want to go over €20m.
