Breaking: Texas QB Quinn Ewers excited for trip to… see more

The Texas Longhorns have to feel like they’re one of the favorites to win the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoffs in 2024, and a big part of their confidence is because of their quarterback.

Quinn Ewers was the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2022 class and he’s lived up to that billing ever since he’s made Austin his home.

Ewers is the centerpiece of a stacked Texas roster, but there are some big games on the schedule in 2024 that the Longhorns will have to navigate in order to even make it to the CFP. One of them is a Week 12 matchup against the Texas A&M Aggies on the road in College Station.

It will be the first time since 2011 that the two schools — now both in the SEC — have met.

When asked by ESPN’s Ryan McGee (h/t On3) what that atmosphere will be like, Ewers simply responded: “Unreal”.

“Especially being there, too. I’m excited for that one,” he continued. “It’s been 12 years, I think, now. That place is gonna be rowdy.”

Texas A&M versus Texas is a rivalry that was played every year from 1915 to 2011, which was when the Aggies joined the SEC.

It’s the type of rivalry that can divide a state, though per Ewers, it’s the type of game that both fanbases should look forward to.

“I hate to say it, but I got a couple of buddies that go there,” he told ESPN. “They’re pretty excited about it, too. It’s gonna be an unbelievable atmosphere, especially being back on that Thanksgiving weekend.”

Last season, his sophomore campaign, Ewers threw for 3,479 yards and 22 touchdowns with just six interceptions. Texas holds a 76-37-5 all-time record over Texas A&M on the gridiron.
