Alvaro Morata’s ex-wife, Alice Campello, has opened up on the reasons for the couple’s split after seven years of marriage.
The pair, who have four children together, played happy families at Euro 2024 – as Morata captained Spain to continental glory. They were also spotted kissing and cuddling on the beach during a post-tournament holiday on the Mediterranean island of Sardinia.
It has since been announced that they are separating, with Morata seen without his wedding ring since completing a transfer to AC Milan while Campello has removed mention of her former husband from her social media bios.
Campello has now revealed that the stresses of professional sport and parenthood led to their uncoupling. She has said via Spanish publication Marca: “We are two young people, we have both been immature when it comes to managing certain situations, there are many children, moments of instability of being from one country to the other. My post-partum depression has had an influence and his, too, which has not allowed us to manage certain situations between us.”
Rumours of infidelity on Morata’s part have been branded “bullsh*t”, with Campello adding on the relationship that she will continue to have with the father of her children: “We love each other infinitely, love does not end from one day to the next, we respect each other a lot and nothing will change. It is what we both needed now, however, I know that Alvaro would kill for me.”
On a similar theme, Morata said when the parting of ways was announced: “After some time of reflection, Alice and I have made the decision to part ways. A WONDERFUL and RESPECTFUL reciprocal relationship where we have loved and helped each other a lot.”
