Just In: Morata Urges Milan to ‘Change Mentality’ After Slow… see more.

Torino denied Alvaro Morata a win on his Milan debut, yet the Spaniard inspired the Rossoneri to a late comeback in a nail-biting 2-2 draw. Paulo Fonseca’s side looked doomed heading into second-half injury time, trailing the Granata by two goals.

However, Morata scored off the bench with an instinctive finish in the 89th minute before another second-half substitute, Noak Okafor, completed the comeback with a stunning volley in stoppages. It wasn’t the debut the former Atletico Madrid center-forward had hoped for, but it could’ve been worse for Milan.

Fonseca’s tactical experiments nearly condemned Milan to the worst possible Serie A start. Paolo Vanoli’s men went 2-0 up, courtesy of Milan’s defensive blunders, and looked in complete control of proceedings. But the hosts’ late blitz prevented Torino from claiming their first top-flight win at San Siro since 1985

Morata was at the thick of it. After the game, he urged his Milan teammates to ‘change mentality‘ ahead of a tight schedule.

“It’s not a great debut because we drew. But we sent a message, a team that was practically dead caught up and if it had lasted five minutes more we would have won,“ Morata said, as relayed by MilanNews. “We need a change of mentality. Every Serie A match will be tough, every Champions League match will be tough, the Coppa Italia will be tough.

“We are Milan and we have to pedal. It’s beautiful to play at San Siro with this shirt, I hoped I could win. I can’t promise goals or titles, but I will give everything for the shirt, yes.“
