Yunus Musah’s future at Milan has been in doubt since the start of the summer, but the player is eager to stay and fight for his place at San Siro. After providing a vital assist in Saturday’s dramatic 2-2 draw against Torino, the United States international delivered a crucial update on his future.

“I see myself here this season. The director [Paulo Fonseca] didn’t kick me out,” Musah joked in an interview with The Athletic, as reported by TMW. “I’m going to stay here, and I want to work hard to play a lot of games and be really incisive.”

Milan went to great lengths to sign Musah from Valencia last summer, beating several foreign clubs to his signature. However, the 21-year-old experienced a torrid first season in Serie A, casting doubt on his long-term prospects at the Rossoneri.

With Milan completing a long-standing pursuit of Youssouf Fofana, Musah’s first-team opportunities could derail. But the USMN midfielder will seemingly fancy his chances in Lombardia despite drawing interest from numerous clubs, including Napoli.

Musah has been behind Tijjani Reijnders, Ismael Bennacer, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek in the pecking order, and Fofana’s arrival can only complicate things even further. There’s a decent probability that Fonseca will rely heavily on the former Monaco star.

Yet, Musah believes he could get a prominent role at Milan despite facing stiff competition for a place in the starting XI.

“I would like to play a lot of games, be really involved, score goals – all positive things. Every season you start with ambitions and things you want to improve. I also want titles.“
