REPORT: Super Eagles hero limited to 4 minutes as Parma, the new guys, upsets AC Milan…..see more

Nigeria international Samuel Chukwueze was reduced to cameo as AC Milan suffered a first defeat of the season in the Serie A at Parma.

Parma defeated the former champions 2-1 in a keenly contested clash, with Chukwueze playing for just four minutes in the away trip on Saturday evening.

After the Super Eagles star failed to impress in the season opener where he featured for an hour from the star, he was relegated to the bench for their first away game of the season.

Therefore, for 86 minutes he watched as Parma put on a show, especially in the first half where they should have sealed the game even before Milan fought back in the second 45 minutes.

The home side created the best chances in the game and deservedly took the lead after just two minutes through Dennis Man.

However, despite creating as many as three big chances, Milan had Parma’s wastefulness to thank for being in the game heading into the break.

The newly promoted side started the second half as they ended the second, but were made to rue their early misses when Christian Pulisic netted the equaliser after the hour mark.

Parma kept pushing and 11 minutes later had the last laugh as Matteo Cancellierri turned out to be the super sub and hero, netting the decisive winner 13 minutes from time.

For Nigeria’s Chukwueze, who enjoyed a great pre-season with Milan, it has been another underwhelming start to what is expected to be a redemption campaign for him after a debut season to forget.

Following the result, Milan have now managed just one point from a possible six under new manager Paulo Fonseca.
