JUST IN: Case close regarding Theo…..see more

Before and throughout the summer, Theo Hernandez and his contract were a key talking point for AC Milan, and with no progress being made yet, there needs to be a change. Today, a report has stated that this weekend’s incident does not change the stance of either party, so progress could be made shortly.

The past eight months have been difficult. Since January there have been questions about key players, about managers, and transfers. Now, in September, the issues remain, albeit they are in different contexts.

Theo has not yet extended his deal at the club, and things have only grown more nervy after his comments during the European Championship, Paulo Fonseca has had a torrid introduction to competitive life as Milan’s manager, and there are potentially still questions about the squad.

In addition to this, these issues are interlinking, with questions emerging about the Frenchman’s relationship with the manager, worsened by the events of the weekend’s result against Lazio.

Since then, Theo has apologised, stating his actions were not meant with any malice, and both players involved have been spoken to, so the road moves forward. On the road for the Frenchman, there is a planned pit-stop – contract talks.

As Calciomercato.com write, the left-back is still ‘fundamental’ to the club, and after closing the case this weekend, the next important thing is his contract. There will be no blockades in the talks, and face-to-face talks will begin in the next few weeks.

It is believed that Milan are ready to offer €6 million per season plus incentives – a €1.5m salary increase – but an official offer is yet to be made. Theo on the other hand wants €8m, so a compromise will be needed.
