After a weekend of voting, discussing, and joining warring factions in the comments, the 2024 Isaac Redman Award winner has been decided.
Drumroll, please….
The winner, with 46% of the total vote, is: Cornerback Cory Trice Jr.!
Trice has won plenty of awards over his football career: All-Big Ten Honorable Mention, Academic All-Big Ten, Southern Pennyrile Football Athlete of the Year, Class 5A-District 1 Player of the Year… but none mean more than this. As the 2024 Redman Award winner, Trice has officially become a BTSC legend.
The Steelers’ Week 1 opponent, the Atlanta Falcons, will be the first ever team to face Trice in the regular season. Rumor has it that Kirk Cousins can’t stop muttering “gosh darn” under his breath in practice. Drake London tried to start “Avatar” to relax and couldn’t finish it. Zac Robinson hasn’t slept for a week.
For those unfamiliar with the Isaac Redman Award, it’s given to a young Steelers player each year, a sixth-round draft pick or lower, who draws the most hype during the summer. Trice beat out a strong second place, cornerback Beanie Bishop Jr. (36% of vote), by outperforming the West Virginia UDFA in the preseason.
