SHOCKING NEWS: Sarri asked about taking over from Fonseca…..see more

Maurizio Sarri refused to comment on the idea that he could become an option to take over at AC Milan in the event that Paulo Fonseca’s bad start continues.

The start of Fonseca’s tenure at Milan has been quite forgettable as the Rossoneri are still looking for their first win and already have the worst defence in the entire championship together with Atalanta and Lecce, with six goals conceded.

Nonetheless, Fonseca – as confirmed by Giorgio Furlani in recent days – remains firmly in his place and has the club’s full confidence. This has not stopped the rumours about a possible sacking, especially if Milan were to be beaten in the Liverpool and Inter games.

One of the names that has been linked to Milan since the start of the summer is Sarri, who came out himself a couple of months ago and suggested that he should have been considered for the position when the club were looking to replace Stefano Pioli.

The former Napoli and Chelsea manager was interviewed by La Gazzetta dello Sport and was asked about the idea of taking over at Milan, with MilanNews relaying his comments.

“It seems bad to talk about it at this time, it requires respect. Paulo Fonseca is a good coach and a high-level man, I met him in person,” he said.

“He is at the beginning of a journey and it is right that he remains calm. I don’t want to get into these discussions. Milan can have a positive evolution, the squad is strong.”
