A’ja Wilson made WNBA history on Wednesday, September 11, and rookie star Angel Reese didn’t waste any time giving her props.
Reese was drafted seventh overall by the Chicago Sky this past April. While most first-year players don’t always make an immediate impact, Reese leads the league in rebounds per game with 13.1. She also set records for the most rebounds in a season (446) and most double-doubles by a rookie in a season (25).
On the other hand, Wilson is now in her seventh year in the league. She’s on track to break the WNBA record for the highest points-per-game average, a mark Diana Taurasi set at 25.2. Wilson currently sits at 27.3.
The day after Wilson broke the single-season scoring record with 956 total points (surpassing Jewell Loyd’s 939 from 2023), Reese took to X to shout her out.
“CONGRATS A!” she wrote. “You deserve this! Forever & always my favorite player!! 🙏🏽🔥💐.”
