SAD: A troubled relationship – why Allegri return is likely….see more

Massimiliano Allegri’s name is appearing on AC Milan’s shortlist to replace Paulo Fonseca, but it seems difficult to imagine due to a rocky relationship, according to a report.

At present, Milan are believed to have a four-man shortlist to replace Fonseca. Of course, this may grow as other candidates are evaluated with agents presenting their clients, and more importantly, when (slash if) the Portuguese head coach departs.

If Fonseca were to depart today, it seems likely that the job would go to Thomas Tuchel, Edin Terzic, Maurizio Sarri or Massimiliano Allegri, but there appears to be issues regarding the last manager.

In the past, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the former-Juventus coach have had their differences, and Corriere della Sera (via Milan News) reports that they do not have a great relationship with one another, which makes things difficult.

Ibrahimovic is believed to have a poor relationship with the current coach, and there is a split between the duo after only a few months. So making an appointment where there will be a similar frostiness makes little to no sense theoretically.

Perhaps the question needs not asking of any potential incomings, but rather of Ibra. In his role, he must now be a leader, and if these problems are to keep occurring, perhaps he is not in the right role.
